PSMJ Resources, Inc. is proud to announce that retired engineering firm CEO Peter Sposato, P.E., has joined its growing team of mergers & acquisitions and ownership transition experts serving the architecture, engineering, and construction (A/E/C) industry. In response to strong demand, Peter’s focus is on assisting firm leaders in effectively planning and implementing their exit strategy to provide the best possible outcome for the individual stakeholder and the firm – whether that is through a merger, acquisition, or internal transition.

“A key differentiator of our consulting team has always been that we have walked in our clients’ shoes,” commented PSMJ Founder and CEO Frank A. Stasiowski, FAIA in announcing Sposato’s arrival at PSMJ. “Our worldwide network of A/E/C industry experts have each spent decades in executive-level positions in A/E/C firms and our clients get direct access to that collective experience in every assignment.”

Before joining PSMJ, Peter held the role of President/CEO for the 140-person New York-based engineering firm Edwards & Zuck. From 2009 to 2015, Peter rolled out an internal stock transition plan for other partners at Edwards & Zuck and then led the sale of the firm to Stantec in 2016.

In his 20-year career with Edwards & Zuck, Peter was responsible for leading organic growth both inside the United States and internationally, including opening an office in Shanghai, China. After an unsuccessful acquisition of Edwards & Zuck by a private equity firm in 2000, Peter played a key role in leading the firm’s diversification into commissioning, telecommunication, and sustainability design. He also successfully navigated the firm through major market volatility events, such as the financial crisis of 2009.

“I’ve always admired the PSMJ brand as the leading voice on effective business management strategies for the A/E/C industry, “ stated Sposato. “I’m very much looking forward to using that voice combined with my real-world experience to advance PSMJ’s mission of improving the business performance of A/E/C organizations worldwide.”

Peter has a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Virginia and an MBA in Finance from Iona College. He is a licensed engineer in New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and California. He has three children and four grandchildren with a passion for golf, squash, and chess.
