September 7, 2016 – ISG (Mankato, Minnesota), a civil engineering provider, announced the acquisition of Raasch Associates (Green Bay, Wisconsin), an industrial engineering firm. “ISG’s growth in Wisconsin, with significant expansion in La Crosse and now in Green Bay, helps us support even more opportunities with other clients throughout the upper Midwest and nationwide. We are always interested in ways to expand our geographic footprint,” stated Chad Surprenant, ISG President and CEO. The acquisition of Raasch will increase ISG’s overall professional team to over 230 individuals.

August 10, 2016 – Multi-specialist infrastructure consultancy pitt&sherry (Launceston, Australia) has merged with KMH Environmental (Chatswood, Australia), a provider of environmental engineering and consulting services. KMH will co-brand with pitt&sherry to become part of the pitt&sherry group. “This is an exciting phase for us, with many benefits for both parties, particularly in terms of specialist capability and geographic distribution,” says Dan O’Toole, pitt&sherry CEO. “Each entity brings complementary disciplines to the arrangement. Most importantly, the synergies brought about by the merger will be a positive experience for our clients.”
August 31, 2016 – CIMA+ (Laval, Quebec), one of Canada's largest private consulting engineering firms, merged with BSEI Municipal Consulting Engineers (Calgary, Alberta), a municipal engineering company. “We are proud to join forces with BSEI who has built a strong client-base in Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan. This merger is aligned with our strategic plan to expand in Western Canada in engineering sectors where we have confirmed expertise,” says Francois Plourde, President and CEO of CIMA+.
September 1, 2016 – Hanson Professional Services (Springfield, IL), a civil engineering and planning firm, acquired Naismith Engineering (Corpus Christi, Texas), a full-service engineering, environmental and surveying consulting firm. “This growth and the expansion of our footprint is a natural progression for us,” said Sergio Pecori, Hanson’s chairman and CEO. “Naismith provides the geography and services complementary to us so we can work with our customers and theirs.” The acquisition will bring Hanson’s number of offices to 28 nationwide with about 450 staff.
September 8, 2016 – O'Brien & Gere (Syracuse, NY), a manufacturing, energy, and environmental services firm acquired PENTA Engineering (Charlotte, NC), a full service engineering company. “One of our key strategic growth initiatives is to expand our industrial manufacturing business across the Southeast and Midwest,” said Jeffrey Rogers, OBG senior vice president and leader of the company’s advanced manufacturing business. “PENTA’s extensive experience in chemical process, metals, and industrial engineering, together with OBG’s established experience in advanced manufacturing, energy, environmental, and wastewater engineering and integrated project delivery, will provide our clients a comprehensive set of skills to help grow their respective businesses.”
September 13, 2016 – NV5 Global, Inc. (Hollywood, Florida) announced that it has acquired Weir Environmental (New Orleans, Louisiana), an emergency remediation and environmental assessment firm. “Weir's experts share our passion for serving the communities around us, even in the most serious and dire of circumstances. There are several major opportunities for cross-selling and synergy between our two companies, particularly in our Buildings, Energy, and Sciences (BES) division in the environmental health and occupational safety space," commented Dickerson Wright, PE, Chairman and CEO of NV5.
September 20, 2016 – Westlake Reed Leskosky (Cleveland, Ohio), a leading domestic architecture firm is joining DLR Group (Minneapolis, Minnesota), an international architecture firm. The combined firm will be staffed by more than 1,000 design professionals. “It’s a case of right creative partner, right place, and right time,” said Griff Davenport, DLR Group CEO. “This increases the geographic reach of both firms and creates a design firm with demonstrated market-leading practices in the space of Cultural and Performing Arts, Energy Services, Healthcare, Hospitality, Justice, K-12 Education, Preservation, Retail and Mixed-Use, Sports, and Workplace.”
