PSMJ Resources, Inc. – the global publishing, executive education, and advisory firm for the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry – announced the addition of Kevin Pitts as M&A Advisor to its team of consultants, providing sell-side M&A advisory, buy-side M&A advisory, valuation services, and ownership transition consulting to AEC firm owners and investors.
Experienced M&A Advisor Joins PSMJ's Growing AEC Transaction Practice
Kevin provides advisory support to the firm valuation, ownership transition, and mergers & acquisitions practices at PSMJ. As both a finance executive and M&A advisor, Kevin has experience with founder-led and private equity–backed companies on buy-side and sell-side M&A transactions, business valuations, debt and equity financings, and ownership transitions totaling billions in transactions. He brings a unique combination of corporate development, corporate finance, and M&A advisory expertise to PSMJ's mergers and acquisitions, valuation, and ownership transition practices. Kevin's experience spans professional services, energy, industrials, construction, real estate, and healthcare, where he has consistently helped founder-led and private equity–backed companies execute effective growth strategies, business transition planning, and exit strategies.
“In our M&A advisory practice, we prioritize facilitating win-win transactions, and that requires advisors who truly understand both sides of the table. Kevin brings something rare. He's closed billions of dollars’ worth of transactions as both a buyer and a seller, worked with founders and private equity investors, and navigated everything from project financing to strategic acquisitions,” said PSMJ President Gregory Hart. “That multi-dimensional perspective means he can anticipate what the other side is thinking, structure creative solutions that bridge gaps, and help our clients avoid the million-dollar mistakes that can derail transactions.”
Deep M&A Transaction Experience Across Multiple Industries
Kevin began his career in public accounting before moving into corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, and project development roles. His first exposure to complex transactions came at Competitive Power Ventures, a private equity-backed energy developer, where he closed more than $7 billion in project financings, refinancings, and asset sales of landmark power generation projects. He later advanced into senior finance leadership roles in healthcare and industrial manufacturing, where he supported business acquisitions and debt financings, exceeding $2 billion through innovative capital structures.
Proven Track Record in Private Equity-Backed M&A Transactions
Most recently, Kevin served as Vice President of Finance and Assistant Treasurer at Health Management Associates, a fast-growing private equity–backed healthcare consulting firm. There, he built and led the M&A function and finance department, partnering with corporate development teams and private equity investors on all aspects of acquisitions that tripled revenue and EBITDA in under four years. He executed complex tax structures, including 338(h)(10) elections, 351 exchanges, and F reorganizations, while leading financial modeling, buy-side due diligence, M&A negotiations, capital raising, and post-merger integration.
Kevin holds a B.B.A. in Accounting from Iona University, is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), and earned a Master of Science in Finance from Brandeis University. Throughout his career, Kevin has brought strategic financial leadership and creative problem-solving to complex M&A transactions, consistently delivering results that create value for all stakeholders.
