Dion-web-final-2018PSMJ Resources is proud to announce that Dion Kenney has joined its dedicated and growing team of Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) experts, bringing more than 15 years of experience in mergers and acquisitions to the PSMJ team.

Dion will provide advisory support to the mergers and acquisitions, valuation, and ownership transition practices at PSMJ. His diverse experience in operations management, finance, M&A deal structuring, and process management provides him with a unique perspective to assist architecture, engineering, and construction (A/E/C) firm leaders in developing effective growth, transition, and exit strategies.

“We are thrilled to have someone of Dion’s background and expertise,” says Susan LeComte, Vice President of Ownership Transition, Valuation, and M&A Services, “He has ample, hands-on experience in M&A, and a true desire to see our clients thrive. He understands, and readily wants to contribute to, PSMJ’s vision of helping A/E/C firms achieve the highest possible business success.”

Dion’s experience within the A/E/C industry began in 1996 with AHSC (Architecture for Health, Science & Commerce), a specialty architecture firm with a focus on the design of medical facilities (hospitals, long-term care facilities, medical office buildings, etc.)  where Dion was responsible for acquisitions.

In the short span of six years, Dion expanded AHSC from a local niche firm to a nationally-recognized brand through acquisitions, strategic alliances and organic growth.  His efforts established AHSC in 4 new geographic regions and 3 new client markets (laboratory, pharma, and educational).  Ultimately, the company had clients in 44 of the 50 states, plus Canada.

In his work with AHSC, Dion performed a multitude of valuations and strategic analyses for acquisitions as well as to support the divestiture of various components of the company.  Dion is experienced in investigating not just the financial aspects (valuation and financial structure) of the deals but the strategic fit (market opportunity, organizational alignment, cultural fit, skills augmentation/complementarity, post-acquisition integration costs, etc.).  In addition, Dion managed the legal teams’ efforts, the due diligence process, wrote post-acquisition integration plans (timelines, milestones, turnaround scenarios, and financial costs/implications).

Since leaving AHSC, Dion continued to be involved, as a consultant, in the merger and acquisition process for privately-held companies where he performed strategic fit and valuation services for companies in the professional services and construction industries.

Dion holds a BS in Physics from Florida State University, an MS in Experimental Atomic Physics and an MBA in Finance and Management from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
