People Together-1-678566-edited.jpgHave you ever come home from that big HR conference with nothing but a few notes – and two aching feet? You spend half your time in a huge lecture hall being talked at, and the other half being bombarded by endless sales pitches as you trudge through miles of exhibits.

We’ve been there—many times. And that’s why The HR Specialist, a provider of newsletters, books, webinars, and training materials since 1937, has announced a new event—The HR Specialist Summit—that covers the many facets of HR management and best practices, along with the newest wrinkles in law and compliance.

The Summit takes place September 6-8 at the Venetian in Las Vegas. Each session in the program has been designed to maximize contact between our attendees and our faculty of HR pros and employment attorneys.

Presenters at the conference include John Benson, VP of HR, communications, and IT, at construction and development firm Skanska, who will identify the creative workplace tools and techniques that his firm has employed to further its position as a global leader.

The HR Specialist Summit features a two-track approach. Our Strategic Track will cover management, engagement, and leadership advice, while the Compliance Track covers the latest legal and regulatory developments.

A sampling of recently added learning sessions to the HR Specialist Summit agenda include the following:

How to Turn Job Reviews Into a Two-Way Discussion: 11 Great Questions to Ask. In my 25 years as an employment litigator, it struck me how often performance reviews were used against employees, and not as a two-way discussion.

5 Ways to Get Your Execs and Managers to Love HR!  If I had a dollar for every time I’ve heard an executive complain about HR. Why the bad rap? Is it deserved? And, most importantly, how does HR change it?
