Here’s a recap of some of the latest A/E/C mergers and acquisitions that have been announced in recent weeks.
May 3, 2018 – Engineering consultancy Mabbett & Associates (Glasgow, Scotland) merged with environmental specialist JIG (Glasgow, Scotland). "The merger of JIG into Mabbett will allow for an enhanced offering of comprehensive environmental services utilising the extensive depth and technical expertise of JIG and the existing Mabbett professional staff," said Michael Lynch, Mabbett's director of process engineering and safety.
May 3, 2018 – Consulting engineering firm Ardurra-King Engineering (Tampa, FL), a portfolio company of RTC Partners LLC, acquired environmental consulting firm E Co Consultants (Palmetto, FL). Chris Bryant, E Co’s Vice President, stated “Joining the Ardurra-King team allows us to provide our expertise and services on a grander scale with a wider geographic reach, while maintaining the same level of quality and commitment.”
April 30, 2018 – Architecture and engineering firm Ghafari Associates (Dearborn, MI) acquired Concept Design (Grand Rapids, MI). "As part of our strategic plan, we are expanding our core corporate and commercial expertise, as well as our geographic reach. Joining forces with Concept Design enables us to enhance our design capabilities and corporate/commercial portfolio, while also affording their team the opportunity to grow professionally," said Kouhaila Hammer, President + CEO of Ghafari Associates.
April 26, 2018 – Stantec signed a Letter of Intent to acquire Cegertec (Chicoutimi, Quebec). “The acquisition of Cegertec is a sign of our continuing commitment to grow our expertise and diversify our operations in the Quebec market. Cegertec will expand our geographic presence throughout the province,” says Isabelle Jodoin, Stantec’s senior vice president, Quebec. The transaction is expected to close on May 25, 2018.
April 23, 2018 – Engineering firm Barton & Loguidice (Salina, NY) acquired Eberlin & Eberlin (Brewster, NY), a planning and landscape architecture firm. “Bringing Eberlin & Eberlin into our fold provides our clients with greater offerings through the firm’s deep expertise in designing athletic fields, enhancing our reach within the K-to-12 and higher education markets, while deepening our footprint in the lower Hudson Valley and Westchester County,” said Richard Straut, P.E., a Principal of Barton & Loguidice.
April 18, 2018 – Architecture firms Perkins Eastman (New York, NY) and Dougherty (Costa Mesa, CA) announced their intent to merge. The merger will build upon the established practices—particularly K-12 and higher education design—of both firms and diversify their combined expertise, particularly in California.
April 16, 2018 – RTM Engineering (Schaumburg, IL) merged with full-service mechanical, electrical, and plumbing firm Malone Finkle Eckhardt & Collins (Overland Park, KS). “We are thrilled to welcome MFEC to RTM Engineering Consultants,” said RTM CEO Tony Mirchandani. “This partnership allows us to further strengthen and grow the MEP/FP services we offer to our clients nationwide – particularly in Kansas and Missouri. We value MFEC’s experience in designing innovative and energy-efficient systems for a wide range of projects and industries.”
