Here’s a recap of some of the latest A/E/C mergers and acquisitions that have been announced in recent weeks.
August 28, 2019 – Scientific, engineering, and planning firm Ecology and Environment (Lancaster, NY) entered into a definitive merger agreement with global professional services firm WSP Global (Montreal, Quebec). “The Board is pleased to have approved a transaction that delivers significant value to E & E’s shareholders and also allows our outstanding professionals to be part of WSP, a leading global firm which is dedicated to serving our clients in solving their environmental needs. The cultural fit and vision of the two organizations combined with achieving more than a 52% premium for our shareholders achieves the Board’s objective of providing value and opportunities for all of our constituents,” said Marshall Heinberg E & E’s Executive Chairman.
September 2, 2019 – Self-storage architectural-design firms Archcon Architecture (San Antonio, TX) and Archcon Design Build (San Antonio, TX) merged and rebranded as Dallenbach-Cole Architecture. “This new partnership and brand will support our continued growth. We are the same team that our clients know and trust, and are pleased to be growing from within,” said Jeffrey S. Dallenbach, founder and managing partner. “Design excellence in the governmental, self-storage and commercial arenas is our primary direction.”
September 3, 2019 – WSP Global (Montreal, Quebec) acquired Orbicon A/S (Taastrup, Denmark), a 500-employee environmental consulting firm. “This transaction will enable us to fulfil our strategic ambitions of enhancing our activities in the Nordics region, while strengthening our expertise in the environment sector,” noted Magnus Meyer, Managing Director of WSP in the Nordics. “The combination of skills and compatible cultures will provide a great foundation for the two organizations to work together effectively on selected projects, creating attractive and value-enhancing solutions for our clients. We look forward to welcoming all our new colleagues to WSP.”
September 10, 2019 – Structural engineering firm McComas Engineering (Carmel, IN) merged operations with O’Donnell & Naccarato (Philadelphia, PA). This merger strengthens O’Donnell & Naccarato’s geographic position and services on a national level. The combined firms with more than 100 employees in 5 regional offices. The addition of McComas increases O’Donnell & Naccarato’s core building design services by offering specialty engineering for precast concrete, cold-formed-steel and other contractor services. McComas also provides specialized structural design to the aquatics industry for competition pools, dive towers and leisure swimming pools throughout the country.
