Here are the recent transactions in the AEC M&A Industry:

July 18, 2024 – LJB (Dayton, OH) has acquired Grantham & Associates, Inc., located in Garland, Texas–marking LJB’s third acquisition in the past seven months. Grantham has been providing quality professional services to clients throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex since 2002. Their team brings expertise in many facets of civil engineering and surveying, including land development, water & wastewater, transportation and trail design, drainage and floodplain, as well as petroleum pipeline engineering.

July  16, 2024 – Salas O’Brien announced that Ehvert Mission Critical has joined the company, adding significant design and construction expertise around hyperscale data centers. Salas O’Brien’s data center design services include electrical, mechanical, structural, architectural, renewable energy, and noise mitigation. Ehvert’s expertise positions Salas O’Brien to meet the requirements of AI, which experts predict will drive a 160-percent increase in data center power demand by 2030.

July 9, 2024 – LRE Water (Denver, CO), a Spheros Environmental company, is excited to announce the acquisition of Timberline Aquatics, Inc. (Timberline), effective July 1, 2024. Timberline is a Fort Collins, Colorado-based firm that provides technical evaluation and characterization of aquatic ecosystems through the sampling, sorting, identification, and analysis of benthic macroinvertebrates. Timberline has operated since 2006, and has developed a strong and well-respected presence in the implementation of studies and testing designed to evaluate biological communities in aquatic environments. The combined LRE Water staff of 100+ employees spans 14 states and offers some of the deepest domain expertise in water resources of any private firm in the Western United States.

July 1, 2024 – Hayner/Swanson, Inc. (HSI) (Nashua, NH), a New Hampshire-based civil engineering and land surveying firm, has joined IMEG. The merger helps position both firms for continued growth in the northeastern U.S.  HSI has served clients since 1972 in multiple market sectors including municipal, residential, commercial, industrial, healthcare, education, and recreation. PSMJ represented Hayner/Swanson in this deal.

July 1, 2024 – Brightstar Capital Partners (New York, NY), a middle market private equity firm focused on investing in industrial, manufacturing, and services businesses, announced today that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Stratus Team, LLC (“Stratus” or the “Company”) from Godspeed Capital Management LP (“Godspeed Capital”). Stratus is a platform of multi-disciplinary engineering, architecture, and consulting firms. Mike Burke, former Chairman and CEO of AECOM, serves as an advisor to Brightstar and is expected to serve as Chair of Stratus’ Board of Directors upon completion of the transaction. Stratus’ senior management will retain a minority stake in the Company.

June 3, 2024 – Consor, a leading provider of transportation and water infrastructure engineering and consulting services, and New Mountain Capital, LLC (“New Mountain”), a leading growth-oriented investment firm with approximately $50 billion in assets under management, today announced a significant investment from affiliates of New Mountain to support the Firm’s continued growth. Consor’s leadership team and employees retained a significant ownership stake in the Firm. With roots dating back over 40 years, Consor provides civil infrastructure planning, engineering design, structural assessment, program management, and consulting services to public and private sector clients across transportation and water markets. Consor is well-established in the largest, growing markets within North America.
