October 19, 2016 – Stantec (Edmonton, Canada) acquired architecture specialist Architecture | Tkalcic Bengert (Edmonton, Canada). “Arch|TB is a well-diversified practice that will play a significant role in enhancing and supporting our buildings practice throughout our Canada Prairies and Territories geography,” says Bob Gomes, Stantec’s president and CEO. “The addition of Arch|TB’s design experts more than doubles the number of local architectural staff in Edmonton, creating a diverse center of design excellence.” 

October 21, 2016 – Consulting engineering provider Hillis-Carnes Engineering Associates (Annapolis Junction, Maryland) acquired Atlantic Geotechnical Services (Ashland, Virginia), a quality assurance firm. “This acquisition allows us to significantly expand our presence and service offering in the state of Virginia,” said William M. Carnes, PE, President and CEO of Hillis-Carnes. “We believe Atlantic’s staff and local area knowledge complement our existing services and enhance the value and depth of resources we bring to our clients both locally and regionally.”

October 26, 2016 – NV5 Global (Hollywood, Florida), a national engineering and consulting provider, acquired JBA Consulting Engineers (Las Vegas, Nevada), a MEP engineering, acoustics, technology, and fire protection consulting firm. Regarding the acquisition, Dickerson Wright, PE, Chairman and CEO of NV5, said, "Incorporating JBA's highly skilled and established team into the NV5 family will expand and strengthen NV5's existing energy and environmental platform by introducing our professionals to new clients and making new services available to our existing clients. We have identified many great opportunities for our two organizations to move forward together and become a significant player in highly profitable markets we have sought to enter."
