PSMJ Resources, Inc., the world’s leading authority on architecture, engineering, and construction firm management, recently announced sixty-eight exceptional architecture and engineering (A/E) firms made it onto the exclusive 2023 Circle of Excellence list. The Circle of Excellence represents the top 20 percent of participants in PSMJ’s annual A/E Financial Performance Benchmark Survey, based on 13 key performance metrics. This honor demonstrates outstanding performance in areas such as profitability, overhead management, cash flow, productivity, business development, staff growth, and turnover.

The A/E firms that are able to sustain this level of performance year after year represent a level of success that deserves special recognition. As such, the firms that achieve Circle of Excellence status for four of the past five years (including 2023) are recognized with PSMJ’s Platinum Award. The winners of the 2023 Platinum Award are (listed alphabetically):

Beck Engineering, Inc.

PSMJ’s Circle of Excellence debuted in 2006 and, since then, it is also worth noting that 9 firms have made it into the Circle of Excellence ten (or more) years (including 2023). These firms are Brown Engineers, LLC; Carpenter Marty Transportation; DGR Engineering; Great West Engineering, Inc.; Kimley-Horn; Klohn Crippen Berger; Pape-Dawson Engineers, LLC; Rowland+Broughton Architecture and Urban Design; and Williams Blackstock Architects, Inc.

“Making it into the Circle of Excellence for even just one year is quite remarkable. However, delivering this kind of performance year after year speaks volumes about the forward-thinking leadership and sound strategy behind these firms,” states PSMJ President Gregory Hart. “This is about so much more than just growth for growth’s sake. This is about having a lasting impact and about building a firm that can withstand changing economic cycles and so much more.”

PSMJ will honor these high-performing firms at A/E/C THRIVE: The Growth, Profit, and Success Summit for A/E/C Firm Leaders at the Grand America Hotel in Salt Lake City on September 20-22, 2023. This unique conference is an opportunity to hear directly from the leaders of top-performing A/E firms and other industry visionaries to learn what they are doing right now to vault to the next level of profit and performance as new business challenges and opportunities arise.

With data from 339 A/E firms across the United States and Canada, PSMJ’s 2023 A/E Financial Performance Benchmark Survey Report is the go-to industry resource for firms aiming to increase cash flow, lower overhead, and improve overall financial results. Now in its 43rd edition, the comprehensive report and Excel-based Benchmarking Model provide the most valuable research and insight available for making critical decisions that impact the success of a firm.
