7:30 AM - 8:15 AM

Registration and Networking Breakfast

8:15 AM - 8:30 PM

Welcome and Opening Remarks

8:30 AM - 9:30 AM

Opening Keynote Panel:
Advancing Design Technology Using Shared Resources

DevereauxBrad Lukanicbrooke-grammier SQWendy-RogersModerator: Peter Devereaux, IDC Board Chair, Founding Principal at HED
Panel: Brad Lukanic, CEO at CannonDesign, Brooke Grammier, Principal & CIO at CannonDesign, and Wendy Rogers, CEO/CTO at LPA, Inc.

Does your firm have a plan to embrace the benefits of A.I. to execute projects? If not, you're hardly alone. The AEC industry has lagged in digital transformation, with methodologies for delivery to customers remaining essentially the same for more than a century.

The AIA Large Firm Round Table (LFRT) noted that every firm was spending money to tackle essentially the same technology obstacles and that there might be a more efficient way for us to remain relevant.

This inspired the formation of the Innovation Design Consortium (IDC),  a public benefit corporation, with an initial investment of $2,000,000 made by forty of the largest design firms in the United States to advance building design technology.

In this eye-opening panel, IDC members share how your firm can benefit from new tools, and the IDC's long-term goal is to organize and curate a database from its member firms that can serve as the data source for any number of Artificial Intelligence engines. Learn what we have done thus far, what we have planned for the future, and suggest what you believe we should tackle next.

Revolutionizing the AEC Professional's Code Compliance: AI-Powered Plan Reviews for ICC Codes and Standards

Matthew Foley-1

New machine learning tools can review floor plans and quickly identify items that do not comply with ICC or NFPA Codes and Standards. Versions of these tools with limited capability have previously only been available to members of the design community using computer-aided design and drafting tools (CAD); however, technology is now available to review architectural drawings in PDF formats, integrate with online permit submittal processes, and support the plan review process at an AHJ level. These same approaches can be used by designers when developing new building projects as well as by architects engaged in the development of abstract or schematic outlines for building projects. Join CodeComply.ai's Matt Foley to learn how the ability to adapt machine learning and AI theory to the plan review process is now a reality.

AI and digital transformation for AEC executives: A more practical view

scott steiding (1)

For sectors with intricate processes and multidisciplinary operations such as AEC, the promise of digital transformation is not merely about introducing new tools; it’s about revolutionizing the way work is done. We have an opportunity to create a vastly different narrative. AI can be seen as a collaborator, not a competitor. It can augment human abilities, streamline processes, and bring forth efficiencies that were once science fiction.

Imagine a world where designs are optimized in real-time based on environmental data, where predictive maintenance can preemptively identify and resolve issues before they escalate, and where resources – both human and material – are aligned with impressive precision. These are the realities being shaped today through digital transformation, supported in part by AI.

However, like all transformative journeys, the digital transformation path is non-linear and fraught with challenges. Join AEC technology thought leader to learn how to leverage AI to identify the right strategies, drive top-line revenue growth, attract top talent, ensure alignment between resource availability and workloads, deliver improved training, and adapt to new modes of work, especially in a hybrid environment.

Scott Steiding is a seasoned executive with nearly 30 years of experience in the AEC industry, having held pivotal roles in sales, marketing, operations, and corporate communications for firms in Europe and North America. His expertise in implementing and managing scalable technology driven systems for business development and operational success uniquely positions him to help firms understand, adapt, and thrive in this exciting period. Scott is the President of Productive Pursuits, a consultancy focused on developing people, processes, and technologies to achieve impressive results.

Problem Solving and Problem Worrying: Machine Intelligence Meet AEC

Phil_Bernstein-320x320Creating the built environment always been a heady mix of science and art, analysis and judgement, objective and subjective, and the measurable versus the ineffable. Once upon a time, humans--nominally assisted by machines— mixed, balanced, or simply chose one side or the other. Yale School of Architecture Associate Dean and Professor Phil Bernstein leaves with his brilliant insights into the new questions arising from the advancement of AI in AEC. As our machines move from the mere automation of tasks to autonomous action that seems to produce human results, how will our work as the designers, constructors, and users of built assets change? Can we expect to be augmented or eliminated by our AI-driven counterparts? He examines the evolution and implications of artificial intelligence for the AEC process, and suggest strategies for how to best partner with our evolving digital overlords.
